About Me.
My name is Alain, and I am the owner of The Malvern Mutt LLc. I was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where I developed a passion for dogs, primarily as a hobby. My mother owned Dobermans, and I was responsible for feeding them walking and letting him out.
At a young age, I trained my Pit Bull, Rufus, without formal training. We engaged in various activities such as weight pulling, obedience and apprehension work.
Early in my career I became a handler and decoy with the KNPV (Koninklijke Nederlandse Politiehonden Vereniging) is The Royal Dutch Police Dog Association, a renowned Dutch organization that develops rigorous training programs and certifications for high-drive working dogs.
Moving to the United States of America, I seized the opportunity to sell trained police canines to various government agencies. Consequently, I established a vendor and training company called The K-9 Center in Oxford, Pennsylvania.
During this time, someone at Delaware County Prison, where I was training the officers and dogs for in-service training, suggested that I become a correctional K-9 officer. I decided to pursue this path and became a correctional K-9 officer / trainer. After the prison becoming a private firm, I left and started the police canine unit in Chester, Pa.
I was certified as a master canine trainer, K-9 handler and decoy by the following associations:
Nederlandse Bond voor de Diensthond (NBvdD) is The Royal Dutch Association for Police Working Dogs. The NBvdD is responsible for certifying working dogs used by private security companies and special enforcement officers (BOAs) and other government agency.
Pennsylvania Police Canine Association, (PPCA)
dedicated to assisting and providing ongoing training for K-9 teams who work as first responders and military personnel within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
The United States Police Canine Association, (USPCA)
The USPCA is the nation's largest, continuously operating organization that promotes quality-trained and certified canine teams.
Now that I’m nearing retirement age, I wanted to continue working in the field of animal care. so, in 2019, I started The Malvern Mutt.
